"Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering."
- St Augustine
Have you ever considered how wonderfully you are made? Merely contemplating the wonder of your being could be the most invigorating and liberating experience one could wish for. Let's start at the very beginning, when two cells merged into one single cell, which then set out to build the trillions of cells that make up one awesome organism - You! Throughout your life, without any outside interference, your body has been doing a great job at growing, maintaining and healing you. Without you paying much attention to it, all your "involuntary", vital life processes have been running along ever so smoothly. And here's the best part - All that power and ability has always been inside you. Now that leaves us with a question... Should you need guidance or healing of any sort, why go look elsewhere?
For this week's Wellness Challenge we are going to accept complete responsibility for, and power over one small aspect of our experience. By holding ourselves accountable, we naturally affirm that we possess the power to manage the situation. By blame shifting or searching for assistance, we naturally affirm quite the opposite. This does not say that we will never need others for support or healing, but it does direct us to start realizing and developing our own power to shape our own experience. Regardless of what you are facing, and only in a very manageable way, start contemplating how you - on your own - can grow toward greater fulfilment without relying on the behavior of others. If you have to become quiet and deal with a few emotions that you've been pushing aside, maybe now is the time to decide who's in control. How does the flower know to be so beautiful? The power has, and will always be inside you.
